Age of calamity

Hyrule Warriors fanzine

About

Age of Calamity is a fanzine dedicated to the events that took place in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

From Master Kohga plotting out his next attack, to Zelda and Impa sitting by a campfire, most anything goes! We aim to show as much content as our contributors will give to us. As Age of Calamity is technically an AU on it's own, we are open to as much as we can get!

So come at us!
...unless you're a Bokoblin...then stand back!
We've got a soup ladle and pot lid, and we are not afraid to use them!

This zine will depict spoiler content!

FAQ

Is this for charity or for profit?
We are a charity project! All proceeds will go towards our chosen charity, Ablegamers, as mentioned in our Interest Check!

So, any character can be depicted? Not just the Champions, Link, or Zelda?
Exactly! As long as they are a character within the world of Age of Calamity, they can definitely be depicted!

Is spoiler content allowed?
Yes! As AoC has been out for some time know, and we are aware that the first wave of DLC comes out in June, we are very much open to any spoiler content!

How will contributors be compensated?
At the very least, all contributors will receive a free pdf of the project, since we are not sure if this will or will not be a physical project at this time. If we are a physical project, head mod will push for all contributors to receive a copy! Even if that means paying out of her own pocket!

Are ships allowed?
Certainly! We'd love to see some ships!

Will nsfw be allowed?
Since AoC does take place during a war, we will allow for some violence or blood in the zine. However, we are not allowing for excessive violence, gore, or any sexual depictions as there is a minor on our team, and there may be more present in the server!

Will poetry be allowed?
Absolutely! We would love poets to be a part of the project!

If someone hasn't been a part of a zine before, will that effect their chances of getting in?
Not at all!! Whether you have participated in a zine or not will not be considered in selected contributors! You will be judged by your portfolio - not by your previous experience, nor even your follower count!

Will mods be allowed to participate as well? If so, will they automatically be able to participate, or would they have to apply like a regular contributor?
Mods will definitely be able to participate! As a mod, you will automatically have the option to participate, so no need to apply!

If Mods are automatically able to participate, does that mean they will be taking up space that could be for a contributor?
Not at all! Mods will have their own space in the zine, and thus any who are accepted into the project will not be taking the space of a contributor!

Is Traditional Art accepted?
Yes! We just ask that all Traditional works be photographed or scanned clearly, please!

Can we apply for more than one position?
You certainly can! But you may only be accepted for one position!

If we get accepted for the physical zine, can we also participate in the digital one?
For fairness to all applicants, we do ask that your work be only for your chosen position / section!

General Information

The main zine, should we gain enough interest for a physical product, will be a fully colored, perfect bound booklet in A5 format, and will feature artists and writers, along with merchandise.

Our plan is to accept approximately 20 artists, 10 writers, and 3-4 merch artists.

Artists will create one fully rendered single page or double page spread, in CMYK, at 300DPI

Writers will create one fic at a maximum word count of 2.5K words (Long Fiction), 600-1K words (Short Fiction)

Poets will be working via page count rather than word count. Our page limit for poetry will be around 2-3 pages in length.

Merch artists will create at least one merch piece in CMYK, at 300DPI

All communication will take place through our discord server. We do ask that if you do not already have one, that you are willing to create an account.

As there is a minor on the team, all samples provided must be sfw!

Digital Extension Zine

This digital extension's creation will depend greatly upon our interest check! Often do we see the same sort of content being created for zines, and so many creative folks are left out in the rain.
So we thought what better way to include other creatives than through this extension!

This would include, but is not limited to:
Music
Embroidery
Sculptures (both physical and digital)
Ceramics and Pottery
Cosplay
Short visual novels and fan games
Alternative writing (screenwriting, playwriting, Mad Libs, etc.)
And More!

For the digital extension, our numbers are not yet final, but we are looking to take on approximately 10 contributors.

Mod Applications

We are looking for additional members to add to the team!
Zine are loads of fun, but with that fun comes a lot of work and commitment.
By applying as a mod, please be aware that your assistance will be needed throughout the full duration of the project!
Please be willing to set aside time for our project should we take you onboard!
All communication between the mods will be done via Discord, so please be sure that you already have an account, or are willing to create one! We prefer that additional members of the team be at least 18 or older, but this is not a hard requirement for most positions! This is however, a hard requirement for Shipping and Finance positions!

Thank you in advance for your interest in our project! We look forward to your application!
